Science Fact of the Month – June 2010

19 06 2010

Did you know about the Theory  of Natural Selection? This month ,  in our  one – hundreth post, we cover the premise of this   scientific theory.

The theory of  natural selection which was formed by Charles Darwin is that  no two  members of  the same species are exactly identical. This is due  to differences such as biological inheritance and   the  ability to partake in environmental adaptation. Over time some members  of a species will  develop  physical features which enable  it  to survive while others will not and thus die. Those who survive  will procreate  ,  ultimately creating a new  species.

Proof to support this theory is how  recent genetic studies link all of us back to a common African origin. This shows that we have evolved, thus  explaining why we   have a variety  of  different   physical  features/ looks  and cognitive abilities.

What are your thoughts  on the  theory?Do you have any  additional proof  to support it?Do you have reason to disagree with it? Sound off in the comments section below!
