The Office Is Ending This Season

The Office shall be drawing to a close after the conclusion of its forthcoming ninth season, reports producer and original show runner, Greg Daniels. Daniels will be returning  in  his capacity as  show runner for the final  season  noted in a report on

Daniels, who participated  in a press conference this past Tuesday commented on how this announcement would   shape the episodes leading up to the finale particularly stating that’ As we head into the homestretch, we have a lot of exciting things I’ve been wanting to do since season two,” Daniel told reporters during a conference call Tuesday. “The end should be pretty cool.”

As for the suitability of the show ending this coming year, Daniels commented on that regard stating that at” some point you have a choice: to always tell the beginnings of stories and the middles or to allow a story to end, and I think endings can be very powerful and meaningful pieces of the story,” said Daniels, who added that NBC Entertainment president Bob Greenblatt was supportive of the plan to end the series. “If we didn’t let it end this year, I don’t know if we would have been able to tell the endings for so many characters that I really want to know the endings for.

As for the structure of the forthcoming season, viewers will see how storylines  develop into arcs which shall have been established into the premiere as opposed to  simply  providing episodic storylines.

Furthermore, Daniels commented on the excitement  in terms of the different possibilities for each of the endings for each of the characters as well as   the creative risks which he can be taken in this regard.”There are so many storylines to follow now, so many endings to write for different characters, risky things we wouldn’t normally do if we knew we were going for a long time,” Daniels said. “Now that we have an end date, we can blow up things and take some chances. It’s very freeing and creatively exciting for the audience.”

Such risks include Nellie hosting a charity at The Office as well as Dwight   donating money  to the Taliban as a form of retaliation.  This year will also bring bank Daniel Denman whose character Roy  will be getting married  and  it is also said to be a big year for the character of Jim and Pam. Furthermore, David Wallice will be seen running  Dunder Mifflin. The show is  said to nhave a feel of what it was before the Sabre days which would make sense given how Sabre is no longer running Dunder Mifflin.

Furthermore, viewers will have a chance to see who the individuals  who have been filming the documentary  throughout the entire course of the series actually are.

While some of the exciting story arcs were revealed by Daniels, it should be noted that the producer  hopes to keep most of the  major details a secret for the coming season,  to help instill an   actual element  of surprise as opposed to  viewers knowing what  will happen beforehand.

As for anticipations which Daniels has for the season he noted that he wanted to  hire Kelp Kalipus who directed  the pilot episode as a way of bringing this to a full circle. Consequently, the question of whether Steve Carrell will return as  Michael Scott arose.  While  Daniels did not provide a definitive response, he did essentially  mention that  although it would definitely be great to have  Carrel return  he acknowledges that the actor is busy with other projects  and therefore this may not necessarily be possible.

NBC’S The Office Renewed For A Ninth Season

Indeed,  viewers of The Office  have much to be excited for after  NBC announced that the show  has been renewed for a ninth season, reports TV Guide! There is presently no word on how many episodes the forthcoming  season will have.

The network has currently undertaken the crucial process of renewing contracts with  Jenna Fisher[ Pam], Ed Helms[ Andy Bernard] and  John Kraisinski[Jim Halpert]. While  it is pleasing to know that these  prominent actors whose characters are quite central to the show will be returning, it has been reported that actor/producer, BJ Novak[Ryan] has not yet initiated this process.

The Office’s season 8 finale drew 4.4 million per average household with a 2.2 million rating in the 18-49  age group. This is the lowest rating  a season finale for this show has ever had. The Office’s finale featured  Andy Bernard [Ed Helms]  making his return  to Dunder Mifflin  by convincing  David Wallace[Andy Buckley] to negotiate with Jo Bennet to liquidate the company . The finale also had  central focus on  Dwight providing  free family portraits to the staff members as a way to obtain the resources needed to confirm  his paternity to Angela’s child . Additionally,Possible romances between Darryl [Craig Robinson]and Val [Ameenah Kaplan] as well as Angela’s husband,  Robert Lipton[ Jack Coleman]and Oscar[Oscar Nunez] were also explored.

Other shows renewed  include Park and Recs for a 22 episode fifth season . Its season four finale  received  a great rating of 3.4 million viewers.

New series Up All Night and Whitney Houtson  were renewed  for second seasons  with the former earning  3.12 million viewers while the latter drew 4.12 million viewers.
