Fans of CW’S the 100 can look forward in knowing that the bittersweet occasion of the premiere of the forthcoming seventh and final season will take place on Wednesday, May 20th at 8pm.

According to a report on Entertainment  Weekly, there is still not any word on whether the CW is moving forward with the 100-prequel series so this may be the last time fans are exposed to the concept of the franchise on television.

As for what the seventh and final season will entail a trailer has yet to be released. That being said, creator and producer, Jason Rothenberg has said the show will have its own version of a happy ending and that the moral or message of its story will become apparent in the final season.

“But I definitely can safely say that we’re trying to say something more with season 7,” he added. “The ending of a story always is the point of the story, the moral of the story. We have yet to reveal the moral of the story, but it will be revealed in season 7. And it won’t be ‘People are horrible, we all suck, we’re willing to kill everyone and everything and do anything to survive.’ There’s a higher purpose, said Rothenburg according to the report.

There are 16 episodes to the forthcoming seventh and final season, bringing the total number of episodes to 100.

What are your predictions on what the moral of the story might be? Will it distinguish the difference between our beloved characters and the other groups of people they have encountered throughout the course of the series? One might say it is obvious that they are different in that they have never been the provokers of violence and as a result, there is a sense of innocence try have.
